FAQ

USAA began in 1922 when 25 Army officers banded together to insure each other's vehicles. This commitment to serving the military community continues today. Our products and services are easy to manage and tailored for the military lifestyle. We have experiences that guide you through the four big military life events: Joining, PCS, Deployment and Separating/Retiring. Plus, you can easily change auto and renters insurance when you show up to your next assignment and use the USAA Mobile App to help manage your finances during TDY or deployment. In short, we're here for you — every step of the way.

It's important to get property insurance to cover your stuff in case of theft or covered damage, whether you're living in a dorm or off campus. In addition, liability coverage helps protect your finances if you're ever held responsible for someone else's injuries or property damage. You can find both kinds of coverage at a price to fit your budget at USAA Renters Insurance or Senior Military College Personal Property Insurance.

Your personal electronics are covered for losses such as fire and theft, but not for accidental breakage, drops and spills or misplacement. For those types of things, our Technology Endorsement is what you need.

You can use it to buy uniforms, household items or a car. You can also put the money toward an emergency fund or paying down high-interest debt, but you cannot use it to pay off educational expenses. Only take as much of the loan as you want to accomplish your goals. To get a better idea of what you might need, check out our CSL expense worksheet.
