Check your Equifax, TransUnion and Experian credit reports for accounts or transactions you don't recognize. Then you might want to place a fraud alert or freeze your credit.
If someone uses your Social Security number to file a fake tax return, let the IRS know. Go to IRS.gov to fill out Form 14039 or call 800-908-4490.
Go to identitytheft.gov or call the Federal Trade Commission at 877-438-4338. You may also contact your local police.
