Text and Rich Communication Service (RCS) messages

Text and RCS messages help keep you informed about account activity and strengthen your security. Learn more about how to manage the messages you receive from us.

Managing your messages

Turn on text alerts

To get text messages from us, you need a device that allows for text messages. Standard message and data rates may apply.

To start getting our texts, do one of the following:

  • Log on to usaa.com and turn on texts in your communication settings.
  • Log on to the USAA Mobile App. Then go to your profile settings and turn on texts under “Communication Settings.”

Set your message preferences

You can adjust your preferences in your communication settings. But you’ll need to give permission for us to send you text and RCS messages. Message and data rates may apply.

International numbers may still get texts. Individual data rates may apply.

Types of messages we send

We’ll send you informational texts, fraud notifications and RCS messages based on your alert preferences.

We want you to make sure you're aware of what's going on with your accounts. To learn how we protect your data, read about privacy at USAA.

Informational Texts

Get messages about any activity on your accounts, links to review bank statements, changes in loan and credit card application status, and more.

Fraud Alerts

You’re automatically enrolled in our 24/7 fraud alerts. If we notice any unusual activity on your accounts, we’ll send you a message. How often you'll receive these messages depends on the activity we notice.

How we send timely and secure messages

We use short codes to send you text and RCS messages. Short codes are special 5- or 6-digit phone numbers businesses use for sending and receiving messages.

These messages are sent through supported mobile carriers Opens in a New Window. Carriers aren’t liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Why we use RCS

Verified sender identity

Messages show our verified name and logo, helping you recognize and trust communications from us.
