Managing your messages
Turn on text alerts
To get text messages from us, you need a device that allows for text messages. Standard message and data rates may apply.
To start getting our texts, do one of the following:
- Log on to usaa.com and turn on texts in your communication settings.
- Log on to the USAA Mobile App. Then go to your profile settings and turn on texts under “Communication Settings.”
Set your message preferences
You can adjust your preferences in your communication settings. But you’ll need to give permission for us to send you text and RCS messages. Message and data rates may apply.
International numbers may still get texts. Individual data rates may apply.
How we send timely and secure messages
We use short codes to send you text and RCS messages. Short codes are special 5- or 6-digit phone numbers businesses use for sending and receiving messages.
These messages are sent through supported mobile carriers Opens in a New Window. Carriers aren’t liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
How to turn on RCS messaging on your device
- Open the Settings app.
- Select ”Apps.”
- Select ”Messages.”
- Under Text Messaging, select ”RCS Messaging.”
- Turn on RCS messaging.
- Download and install Google Messages if you haven’t already.
- Open the Messages app.
- Select the three vertical dots from the menu.
- Select ”Settings” then ”Chat Features.”
- Turn on ”Enable Chat Features.”
How to stop receiving messages
To stop receiving messages, text “STOP” to the related short code.
