Property claim checklist


USAA is here to help you through your property claim. Here's what may come next.

  • Your adjuster may reach out to you for additional information.
  • Your adjuster may send someone to inspect the damage to your property.

In the meantime, here are steps you should take.

  • Protect your property or take action to prevent additional damage to your property.
  • Take photos of the damage before the cleanup, repair or replacement.
  • Make a list of personal belongings that were damaged or stolen, and include the age, make, model and purchase price.
  • Save receipts of expenses incurred due to damage to your property.
  • Keep any defective products or parts that may have caused the damage, such as appliances, plumbing parts or electronic equipment.
  • To get answers to your questions and learn more about the claim process, visit the Claims FAQ.
  • Send messages, photos and documents at anytime through usaa.com or our mobile app.
  • Send information to USAA through your claim-specific email or the Claims Center. Simply reply to this email with your photos or receipts. If you're using your own contractors or inspector, they can also use this email.
