Get information about different types of insurance fraud and how to report suspicious activity. Learn about insurance fraud.

An AOB is a document that lets you transfer your insurance rights to a third party, like a repair shop or contractor. This lets the third party directly manage claims and get payments from your insurance company.

You’re not required to sign an AOB. Make sure you read and understand any document before signing.

Before signing an AOB:

  • Contact your insurance company.
  • Get more than 1 estimate for any repairs.
  • Check reviews and references to make sure you work with a third party you can trust.

If you’ve already signed an AOB, you might be able to cancel it without penalty within a certain time frame.
