Ways to manage their money
Change card limits, deposit checks, order a debit or ATM card, transfer money, and more.
Using a USAA youth account FAQ
You’ll need to apply for and open a USAA Youth Spending account. Once you do, you can follow these steps to order a debit card:
- After you log on and get to your accounts, go to the menu and select "Order Debit Card."
- Select your child’s name.
- Select a shipping method.
- Verify the information and submit your order.
We’re required to verify your child’s identity. This must be done within 60 days of their birthday to keep their USAA accounts open.
But if you can give us the documents while they’re 17, we’ll have what we need to keep their account open.
You’ll need to upload these images to our document portal:
- Social Security card
- Government-issued ID
- Proof of physical address
You can then remove yourself from your child’s account. Or continue as a joint accountholder and help them manage their money.
