Account closure and policy termination

What you need to know

You may request to close your USAA Bank accounts or terminate your Property & Casualty Insurance policies by contacting USAA. Processes, procedures, and requirements for account closure and insurance policy termination will vary. You will need to contact a USAA Member Service Representative for specific guidance.

  • Closure of accounts is subject to account eligibility requirements and may be affected by account activity.
  • Closure procedures will vary depending on the type of account.
  • Please contact USAA by calling 800-531-USAA (8722) or using chat to discuss closing your accounts.
  • When terminating your USAA Property & Casualty Insurance policy to switch to another company, be sure the policy with the new company is active to ensure there is no lapse in coverage.
  • If there is another primary USAA Property Insurance policy active (Homeowners or Renters insurance policy), the additional policy may be terminated digitally on your policy summary page.
  • Termination of Auto, Umbrella, and/or Valuable Personal Property Insurance policies require contacting USAA.

  • USAA Life Company policies may be subject to certain contractual obligations prior to termination.
  • Closure of certain USAA Life Company policies may be subject to early termination penalties or loss of cash value.
