Usage based program notice

The following applies if you enrolled in the usage based program:

  1. All rated operators must have a smartphone with a cellular data plan, agreed to the Terms and Conditions, downloaded the telematics mobile app and enabled all permissions.
  2. The rated operators will continue to keep the telematics mobile app downloaded and operating so that we can capture their driving data to determine mileage and safe driving behaviors.
  3. If device activity is not detected from a rated operator’s telematics app for a period of 3 days, beginning on day 4, you will be charged the offline rate which is a default annualized mileage assigned for each day per operator until we start receiving device activity again.
  4. If any rated operator decides to unenroll from the program, the entire household will be unenrolled from the usage based program and no longer rated based on actual miles driven. Your policy will continue based on our approved rates in your state that don’t consider actual mileage or telematics.
  5. You may unenroll from this program at any time. This program remains voluntary. Once unenrolled from the program, you may not reenroll for a period of 90 days.
  6. Your mileage will be estimated at the time of your quote and adjusted monthly for actual mileage driven by all rated operators. If at the end of the monthly billing cycle it is determined that you and all rated operators drove:
    • less miles than the estimate, your billing account will be credited the monetary amount for these miles;
    • more miles than the estimate, your billing account will be increased for the additional miles driven.
  7. You will never be charged more than the maximum amount shown to you at the time of new business, enrollment or your renewal offer as long as you make no policy changes to the policy such as adding rated operators, changing or adding vehicles or increasing coverages. If you do make changes, the maximum amount will be adjusted for each change you made.
  8. An earned driving score will be calculated during the term for you and each of the other rated operators. The driving scores will be individually calculated from the time an operator has driven a minimum of 325 miles and 16 hours during the term. Driving scores will not be calculated until after the first 14 days. Each rated operator will be provided with feedback on their driving behavior. The first 14 days will not be used in determining a driving score. A household score is calculated based on the individual scores of all of the rated operators on the policy who meet the mileage and hour requirement. All scoring is locked for the term when we begin to process a renewal offer.
  9. Any earned discount will be a part of your renewal offer.

USAA SAFEPILOT® PROGRAM NOTICE

The following applies if you enrolled in the USAA SafePilot® discount program:

  1. Any rated operator(s) listed on your policy may enroll if they have a smartphone with a cellular data plan, agreed to the Terms and Conditions, downloaded the telematics mobile app and enabled all permissions.
  2. A participant once enrolled must continue to keep the telematics mobile app downloaded and operating so that we can capture their driving data to determine their safe driving behaviors.
  3. If device activity is not detected from a participant’s telematics app, we will notify you. None of the trips will be captured and we will not be able to use any driving information to calculate a discount while any participant remains offline. Once back online, we will continue to collect the participant’s driving data and score their trips.
  4. Upon enrollment, the currently approved participation discount in your state will be applied to the auto policy. If all drivers in the household do not choose to participate, the participation discount will be reduced and applied based on a proportion of the number of participants. For example, if the maximum available participation discount is 10% and a household of two drivers only elects to have one driver participate, the participation discount will be reduced to 5%. If only one or all participants unenroll from the program at any time during a policy term, you would lose any available discount at your next renewal.
  5. A participant discount is only available during the initial enrollment period that can last up to 365 days. If you unenroll from this program and return in the future, you will not again be entitled to the participation discount. You and any other participants on your policy will be entitled to earn the earned driver discount.
  6. Driving scores will not be calculated until after the first 14 days of the program when you first enroll. Each participant will be provided with feedback on their driving behavior, but the first 14 days will not be used in determining a driving score.
  7. An earned driving score will be calculated during each term for each participant. Driving scores will be individually calculated from the time a participant has driven a minimum of 325 miles and 16 hours during the term. A household score is calculated based on the individual scores of all of the participants on the policy who meet the mileage and hour requirement. All scoring is locked for the term when we begin to process a renewal offer.
  8. At the end of the participants' initial policy term in this program, and in each term that follows, the driving score will be converted to an earned driving discount to be applied to the auto policy for each participant that has driven at least at minimum 325 miles and 16 hours during that term. The app will continue to collect data during each subsequent term for the purpose of scoring the driving behavior to determine if an earned driving discount can be applied for the next renewal offer.
  9. Once a score is locked to process a renewal offer and determine a discount, your app is reset to start the scoring process over for the next term.  Scoring can never cause your premium to increase.  Scoring will only be used to offer a discount, but only when it is earned during the prior term prior to the locking and the beginning of the renewal processing.
  10. If app did not receive enough driving behavior information during a period of 365 days after enrollment, an earned driving discount will not be applied for that participant at the next renewal. If enough information was collected during a policy term for any participant, those participants will be entitled to a proportion of the earned driving discount at their next renewal that will be part of any renewal offer.
