Why add tech coverage?

If you’ve ever misplaced your cell phone, cracked your smartwatch, or spilled something on your laptop or desktop computer, you know it can be a hassle to come up with the money to repair or replace it.

With electronics coverage, you can get extra protection for your gadgets. This can help cover accidental damage and loss for items that may not be covered under your current policy.

Electronics coverage FAQ

If you have tech coverage with another company, look at what your current policy covers and compare it with ours. Find out what your deductible is, what items are covered and what you're covered for.

Our tech coverage has a $250 deductible and covers most of your electronics for common losses like drops, spills, theft, loss and more. Once you understand your coverage options and what coverage you need, choose the one that works best for you.

USAA computer coverage protects laptops, desktop computers and tablets only for things like drops and spills. Electronics coverage includes these, plus other devices like smartphones and watches, TVs, gaming systems, and more. If you already have computer coverage, you have two choices:

  • You can switch to the electronics coverage to protect more devices. If you switch, you can't go back to only computer coverage.

  • You can keep computer coverage. It'll still cover your laptops, tablets and desktop computers.

The USAA Insurance Agency does offer a cell phone protection plan. It doesn’t cover all your electronics, but if you only have a cell phone or that’s your main concern, this may be a good option for you. The coverage will replace your phone if it’s damaged or lost.
