How to send a domestic wire
The fee for domestic wire transfers is $20. If you need to send more than $10,000, call us at 800-531-USAA (8722). Our hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT.
You should personally verify your recipient's information before sending a wire. This is what you’ll need to send your domestic wire:
- Amount you want to send
- Recipient's
- Bank name
- Recipient's
- Full name of the recipient, or the person or business receiving the money
- Recipient's address or ZIP code
- Additional wire instructions like file number, account number and address
We typically process outgoing domestic wire transfer requests the same day if they’re received Monday through Friday by 4 p.m. CT.
Processing times vary by bank but usually take 1 to 2 business days. Our domestic wire offices are closed on weekends and federal holidays.
If your recipient doesn’t receive the wire transfer within this time frame, call us to start a wire investigation.

While the process is secure, if someone you don't know asks you to send or receive a wire transfer, you should decline such a request.
If you accept the request, you may become an unknowing participant in illegal money laundering, or you may become the victim of fraud.
Here are some tips to help keep you and your accounts safe:

- Ignore unsolicited email job offers or opportunities, especially if the company is overseas.
- Never give your bank account details to someone you don't know.
- Be on the alert for lottery or inheritance scams.
- Verify the instructions with the recipient before sending the transfer.
We can only cancel a domestic wire transfer request if we receive your request before we send the money.
If we’ve already sent the money, we can try to recall a wire but can't guarantee that the request will be honored by the recipient's bank.
We can cancel an international wire transfer up to 30 minutes after you authorize it. To cancel, call us at 800-531-USAA (8722).
- Domestic wire: If you enter incorrect or incomplete wire transfer details, we may return the wire. When this happens, we’ll credit the money back to your account online, minus any fees charged by us or another financial institution.
- International wire: If you enter incorrect or incomplete wire transfer details, the wire may be delayed or returned, minus any fees charged by us or another financial institution. Foreign currency reconversion may also occur.
No, USAA Bank doesn’t offer recurring wires. But recipients can be saved to make future wires easier to send.

Our correspondent banks and other financial institutions will convert any wires sent in foreign currency into U.S. dollars before USAA Bank receives them.
