Need to get reimbursed for a glass claim?
If you already paid to fix your glass damage, you can submit a reimbursement request in as little as 5 minutes.
We'll need to know which car was involved, how much you paid, and the name and number for the shop that did the work.
Windshield and glass claims FAQ
Damage to other areas of your car and other types of glass may not be covered by a glass claim. But they may be covered under a different part of your auto policy and would require you to report an auto claim.
Here are the types of glass that are typically not covered:
- Headlights
- Taillights
- Side markers
- Fog lights
No. In some cases, even with a successful repair, the chip or crack may be visible. It’s also possible that it could become larger.
But Safelite AutoGlass can guarantee that the successful repair of a chip or crack will pass any state vehicle inspection. If it doesn't pass, they’ll apply your repair costs toward a windshield replacement.
We cover the replacement of glass parts that are of like kind and quality. If the recommended glass for your repair isn’t OEM, you can request an OEM replacement. You may owe the difference.
In most cases, yes.
Cars that have advanced safety features, like collision detection or lane assist, use cameras and sensors to help them work.
The sensors need to be aligned with the replacement windshield to work properly. That way, they can respond when they need to — or not respond when they don’t.
Our glass specialists will let you know if they need to recalibrate your new windshield. It’s usually done in the same visit as the replacement.
