The Tennessee Department of Insurance has issued a moratorium on all cancellation or non-renewal of policies for non-payment of premium for policyholders who have suffered property damage for the state of Tennessee.

The effective dates of this order are December 9, 2023, to February 7, 2024.

The following actions and procedures will be implemented during the duration of the moratorium period for members in the state of Tennessee:

  • USAA companies' insurance policies in the state of Tennessee, affected by December 9, 2023, tornadoes will not be cancelled or non-renewed due to non-payment of premiums by USAA during the moratorium period. If a policy was already set to terminate during the moratorium period, it will be reinstated.
  • An extension of 60 days will be allowed for reporting of information, submission of a claim, bills, or proof of loss, or payment of funds. In the event repairs on an affected property cannot be completed within the time period required under the policy, an extension of at least 60 days will be allowed to make such repairs.
