If you don’t want to cancel, you can make other changes or get policy documents anytime. You can:

  • Update or remove a mortgage company.
  • Change coverage and deductibles.
  • Update home characteristics, like roof age or new remodels.

Homeowners cancellation FAQ

Not paying your bill can affect your credit and your ability to get other insurance. It can also lead to higher rates or make you ineligible for certain discounts.

In most cases, you’ll get a refund unless you have an account with an outstanding balance. If your premium is paid through escrow, we may send the refund to your mortgage company.

There may be special circumstances that change how we process your refund. If you have questions about a refund, speak with one of our insurance specialists by calling 800-531-USAA (8722) 8005318722.

Even though you’re no longer required to have homeowners insurance, it’s a good idea to keep it. Your policy helps protect you, your home and your things.
