[00:00:00] — USAA teams up with Wildfire Defense Systems.

Wildfire is a growing threat to our members. It's not just where you live at that determines your home's risk of loss from wildfire, but the environment surrounding your home also plays a large role. To help our members fight this growing risk, we've enlisted the help of Wildfire Defense Systems — WDS. Employing certified wildland firefighters, WDS helps to prepare and secure your home from the threat of wildfire. This service is offered to our members at no additional cost. Together, we can help lower the chances of a devastating loss.

[00:00:32] — Free program addresses wildfire threat.

Wildfire. The word has come to represent an ominous concern for homeowners throughout much of our nation. Weather conditions and home locations have come together to greatly increase the likelihood of damage from wildfire for many USAA members, even those who are not located in seemingly risky areas. In order to better protect our members when wildfires erupt, USAA has teamed up with Wildfire Defense Systems — WDS — to offer a free program that addresses this growing threat.

[00:01:02] — WDS brings experience to the USAA response program.

Wildfire Defense Systems has been a fully qualified wildfire response organization for over 10 years, and now we have the opportunity to bring those depth of experience and operational experience to the USAA response program. We look at what burns down structures. We work during the fires and take actions to mitigate and reduce that risk and try to make the structure more survivable during a fire.

[00:01:36] — The Wildfire Response Program monitors your risk.

Here's how USAA's Wildfire Response Program works. When a wildfire's in your area, WDS will monitor its activity. Professional wildland firefighters from WDS will attempt to go into evacuation zones and take actions to help prevent fire damage to your property.

[00:01:53] — Mitigation steps can reduce wildfire's impact.

So you have impacts of fire moving onto the property, fire direct flame impingement on the property, the embers that fire creates. And we look for those places that fire really tries to get a hold of the property. And we take actions to reduce its ability to impact the property, just reduce those chances that the fire is going to actually be able to take that structure.

[00:02:16] — Protect your home and minimize wildfire risk.

Having dedicated wildland firefighters perform these mitigation strategies may help protect your home from a wildfire. Together we can help lower the chances of a devastating loss.
