We're here to help when life changes.

We understand things change. Your financial security is important to us, and we want to make sure you're protected. Before you cancel your policy, consider our other coverage options and ways to save.

Other ways to stay protected

When your needs change, your policy can, too. Instead of canceling your homeowners insurance, another option may be updating or changing it. We offer a range of products and coverages for any place you call home.

  • Renting out your home

If your main or secondary home becomes a rental property, temporarily or long term, you may still want it to be insured. We offer rental property insurance, also known as landlord insurance. It provides the coverage you'll need and access to discounts on tenant screening.

  • Selling your current home and buying a new one

Keeping active homeowners insurance on your current home is important during the closing process. It means you'll still have protection. When you purchase your new home, you'll need a policy for your new address that starts on the day you take ownership.

  • Selling your home to move in with someone else

If you're moving in with a spouse or significant other or just moving into a home you don't own, canceling your homeowners policy makes sense. If you're not legally married, you still may want to protect your stuff, even if it's in storage. We can easily help you make the switch to USAA Renters Insurance.

  • Paying off your mortgage

Congratulations! This is a big deal. When your home is paid off, you're no longer contractually obligated to have homeowners insurance. But that doesn't mean it's time to cancel. Keeping your homeowners policy means your home and belongings can be protected by a covered loss.
