Easy ways to add money
Whether you're at home or on the go, you can easily add money to your child's USAA Youth Spending account.
- Transfer money directly.
- Set up direct deposit.
- Use the Deposit@Mobile® feature of the USAA Mobile App. See note 4
- Try other deposit options.
Pair their checking account with a youth savings account.
While your child learns good spending habits, they could also be putting away money for the future.
Using both accounts can help your child manage money and create an emergency fund.
Youth checking account FAQ
From your USAA profile, you can block the card. When your child finds their misplaced card, you can then unblock it.
If they can't find their card, you can report it online as lost or stolen.
If there are unauthorized charges, the adult who's on the account needs to call us at 210-531-USAA (8722). You won't be responsible for unauthorized debit card charges that you report to us. See note 5
We’re required to verify your child’s identity. This must be done within 60 days of their birthday to keep their USAA accounts open.
But if you can give us the documents while they’re 17, we’ll have what we need to keep their account open.
You’ll need to upload these images to our document portal:
- Social Security card
- Government-issued ID
- Proof of physical address
You can then remove yourself from your child’s account. Or continue as a joint accountholder and help them manage their money.
