Accessibility at USAA

Our commitment to accessibility

We believe everyone deserves equal access to our services, including those with disabilities.

We do that by making sure our online content is easy to use and understand. And we strive to make sure our buildings are safe and usable for all.

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We’re always looking for ways to improve, so we can better serve you and your family.

Relay Service

We accept calls through the federal telecommunications relay service.

Access to our facilities

We want to make our buildings easy to navigate for all members, potential members and their families. We have several accessibility features and services to support your visit.

Service animals are welcome at all financial centers and the bank lobby. We can also provide speech and sign language interpreters, note takers, and qualified readers.

If you need these services, call us at 800-531-USAA (8722).

Access to our online content

Our goal is to make our online services simple and easy to use for everyone. We design our content to meet accessibility standards and support how you choose to get it.

Many USAA documents are compatible with screen readers. If needed, you can also get them in Braille or large print.

You can set your document preferences from your member profile or by calling us at 800-531-USAA (8722).

Recommended screen reader and browser combinations

If you use a screen reader, we recommend these screen reader and browser combinations for the best experience:

Desktop computers

  • Job Access With Speech (JAWS) for Chrome on Windows
  • VoiceOver for Safari on MacOS

Mobile devices

  • TalkBack for Chrome on Android
  • VoiceOver for Safari on iOS

To set up your screen reader so it pronounces acronyms correctly, view our recommended dictionary entries and keyboard shortcuts.

User-controlled accessibility features for mobile devices

Most modern mobile operating systems, such as Android and iOS, include a suite of accessibility features. You can usually find them under your device's settings and accessibility.

These features may be available or vary by device and operating system. Some may also require enabling or set up first before you can use them.

Visual adjustments

Enlarge text and images, so that small or hard-to-read content is easier to view.

Or change text size and fonts, enable high-contrast mode or color-invert modes, and adjust colors to ease visual strain and improve readability.

Voice control

Use built-in voice assistants, such as “Hey Siri” on iOS or “Okay Google” on Android.

This can help you interact with your device without having to touch your device or use special voice control settings to dictate text, control apps and access system functions without touching the screen.

Live captions

Show real-time captions for audio and video, so spoken words appear as text on screen. Accuracy and availability vary by device.

Motion reduction

Reduce or disable nonessential motion by minimizing zooming and sliding transitions, animated effects, and parallax.

Other controls

Use physical buttons or switch devices instead of touching the screen. Adjust touch timing, gesture sensitivity and assistive touch settings to match your motor preferences.

User-controlled accessibility features for websites

These features may be available on most Windows and macOS browsers and can vary by browser version or settings. Some features may also require enabling or additional setup.

Keyboard navigation and caret browsing

Use tab and arrow keys to move through text, links, and buttons without a mouse. Some browsers also support caret browsing, which lets you navigate and select content with the keyboard.

Described content

Get auto-generated image descriptions or summaries of web content. Some websites and web apps can also read text aloud or accept spoken input. So you can dictate text and control features using your voice.

Text zoom and modes

Increase text size, up to twice as large, or zoom in on the whole page while keeping the website’s design and function. You can also use modes to improve readability.

High contrast mode improves text readability. And dark mode makes text lighter on a dark background and reduces the amount of light emitted from the screen.

Live captions

View words on the screen for video or audio. Availability and accuracy can vary depending on the device and browser.

Motion reduction

Turn off nonessential animation or motion. Sliding menus and swooping objects will appear without the added visual flare.
